Guide to Fundraising: Excuses Are Lies That Keep Us Broke
Over the years as I developed this guide to fundraising, I’ve talked with people who have had a dream they wanted to fund.
There are some excuses that I have heard, and continue to hear, more than others about why they can’t reach their fundraising goals.
Here are a few of the most common:
- I don’t know where to start.
- I’m not gifted to do this.
- I’m not good with all the technology stuff.
- I tried it, and it didn’t work.
Excuses, at the end of the day, are all based on one thing—fear.
Fear of people. Fear of rejection. Fear of the unknown. Fear of failure. But that fear is based on emotion, not reality. Your fears will still exist. And some of your excuses will be valid. But you have to move anyway. You have to do something. Or you will stay broke.
Don’t quit! Don’t let excuses rob your vision. Your action will create the traction you need to get your dream on its feet!
It’s time to start thinking about how you can make your dream become a reality.
