Learn the Secrets to Storytelling

Stories move us. They engage and inspire us. The best ones stay with us forever.

So whether you’re preaching a sermon, encouraging people to give, or teaching your children to clean up their room, stories will help you connect.

Here are six things to know about stories.

1. Storytelling is simple. Anyone can do it. You don’t need a
degree in English or an MBA.

2. Storytelling is timeless. Unlike fads and gimmicks, storytelling has always worked, and it always will. Everybody – regardless of age, race or gender – likes to listen to stories.

3. Stories are contagious. They can spread like wildfire without any additional effort on your part. If you want your message to last, tell a story.

4. Stories are easy to remember. Did you know facts are 20 times more likely to be remembered if they are part of a story?

5. Stories inspire. Have you ever heard someone say, “Wow! You’ll never believe the bullet-points and poem I just read. But you have heard people tell stories again and again.

6. Stories are easy to hear. Stories get your message across without arrogantly telling people what to think or do. Telling a story, where you underline the learning, is a great way to communicate what needs to be done without saying, “do this.”

On this webinar, I’ll talk a little more about this. But I’ll also talk you through the kinds of stories you should tell in church and give you seven great places to find them. And along the way, I’ll tell you a few great stories.
